POWNAL LOSE HARD FOUGHT BATTLE TO CHARLOTTETOWN

2014-02-23

The Red Devils came out fighting from the moment the puck was dropped to start the game.

The Red Devils came out fighting from the moment the puck was dropped to start the game.  The boys battled hard implementing the drill Coaches Cory, Jonathon and Kirby had them practicing all in a circle Friday morning.  “It was a great game tonight.  I thought the boys battled hard, and deserved a better outcome,” commented Coach Cory.  “We played three strong periods, forcing the puck causing turnovers. We hustled both ways, our back-check was relentless. And to top it off Caleb had a great game in nets with some highlight reel saves. Looking forward to next weeks game on Tuesday."

Pownal opened the scoring after a scoreless first period. Sam Parsons scored a beauty fending off the Abbies defender to convert the breakaway pass from Luca Le Clair.  Abbies scored later in the second period to tie it up.  Tempers heated up in the third period with both teams fighting hard along the boards. Caleb Drake was outstanding in nets stopping a number of sharp shooters to keep the Devils in the game.  Abbies took the lead in the third period scoring two goals before Holden Bradley cut the gap to 1.  Drew MacPhee sent Holden on a lead pass who found the back of the net.  Abbies would score one more to win the game 4-2.  Despite the loss, it was a competitive Red Devils team who came to play the Abbies one last time for the season.

Pownal Red Devils host the Western Warriors for their final home and league game on Tuesday.
