POWNAL LOSE TO CHARLOTTETOWN

2014-02-13

The Red Devils lost to the Charlottetown Abbies 9-1 Tuesday night in their second last meeting of the regular season.

The Red Devils lost to the Charlottetown Abbies 9-1 Tuesday night in their second last meeting of the regular season. Missing three players in the line-up due to illness, things did not start off well for the Red Devils. Abbies scored just 7 seconds into the first period and continued the scoring trek adding four more goals.  Drew MacPhee scored in the dying seconds of the first to put the Devils on the score board.  Simon Hughes and Henry Pitre assisted.

Down by four goals going into the second, Pownal was not able to capitalize on the power play opportunities.  Abbies added three goals to extend their lead 8-1 by the end of the second period. A final goal in the third clinched the win for Charlottetown.  Players and coaches had few words as they left the ice disappointed.

The Red Devils team will seek to regroup in the next five days before facing two must win games against the Sherwood Falcons.  Pownal visit Sherwood on Islander Day and then host them the next night in Pownal February 18.
