Winning streak extends to four with win against North River Sunday evening

2015-01-15

The first period Sunday evening saw goalie Carson Gray make some great saves, including one showing his prowess with his glove. Pownal worked hard to keep the puck in the Flames end, and with 2 minutes left in the period, Connor MacPherson was right out front to put in a goal with an assist from Will Murley.

In the second the Red Devils put on the pressure some more, putting more shots on goal. Again, with time ticking down Pownal scored again. This time Lance Kennedy scored on a rebound from a Noah Brehaut shot.

In the third North River took two back to back penalties, but Pownal wasn't able to capitalize on the 5 on 3. Shortly after, the Flames put one in. Then Gray totally stoned a shot from a Flames player on a breakaway. Both teams took penalties, but the score ended up 2-1 the Red Devils.

Pownal had 22 shots on goal, while North River had 11. Will Murley took home the hard hat. After the game he said, "We had good passes, went to open ice and took shots when we had them." Of the teams' four wins he said, "We came to play for the games, and we don't slow down. We've just kept going and pushing." Gray and Dylan Batchilder also had some thoughts on the game, saying they felt the team was showing some great team work.
