Pownal puts on the heat at Gateway Arena in Borden

It may have been the cow bell, or the heat coming from the stands, but the Red Devils definitely got themselves fired up for a come from behind win.

It may have been the cow bell, or the heat coming from the stands, but the Red Devils definitely got themselves fired up for a come from behind win.  Pownal went down two points in the first, but had a number of quality chances on the Southside goal.

In the second, goalie Carson Gray was under pressure early on, but made a series of nice stops down low.  With less than a minute left in the period, Noah Brehaut scored a beaut with assists from Lance Kennedy and Owen Brown.

Then Gray made a clutch save on a breakaway going into the third. David MacLeod had his own breakaway, which led to a Southside penalty. On the power play Sam Parsons sniped one in from the side to tie the game up with another assist from Kennedy and one from Brehaut. Parsons scored the winner a few minutes later with an assist from Kennedy - his third of the night.

One Pownal fan said, "Now THAT'S a good way to start the New Year." D-man Brown got the hard hat and at first pulled a Marshawn Lynch with a "yeah"...but he was trapped in the car for an hour so eventually said, "It was a real morale boosting win for us and it really felt good to get the win." Aiden Arsenault also had a solid game on defense, attributing the team's come from behind to good passing.

The boys will have some off-ice bonding time watching the World Juniors Sunday and then will host the Abbies Monday night at 7:10.  Go Pownal Go!
