Devils drop one to the Falcons

2014-12-30

About half way through the first Sherwood took the lead, putting up the first point. Then the Falcons scored again, as things got busy around the Pownal net.

The Red Devils went into the second down two, but came back on the ice with renewed determination. Goalie Nathan Bruce made a nice save on a shot from the point, and followed up with some more awesome stops. He went down in the splits to keep another shot from going in, and got his stick down quick to keep another one out.

The third period saw Lance Kennedy keep the puck away from four Falcons, and almost put it in single handedly. Bruce made a stop right in front, then slid across the net to stop the wrap around attempt.

While Sherwood won the game, there was some good news. After missing some ice time, Connor MacPherson said he felt "comfortable"...even after he barrel rolled over another player. He had this to say of the game, "I think we played good in our own zone, and had some shots. Nathan really kept us in it." The shots on goal were 11 for the Red Devils and 20 for the Falcons. Bruce took home the hard hat...and said the defense really helped out in front of the net.

Next up - Pownal vs Southside on Friday at 7:45 in Borden.  Happy New Year!!!
