Pownal PeeWee AA light it up in Montague

2014-12-12

The driving rain didn't stop the Red Devils hitting the road to take on the Norsemen Wednesday night.

The driving rain didn't stop the Red Devils hitting the road to take on the Norsemen Wednesday night.  Pownal came out strong putting a couple of shots on goal early. That set the tone for the rest of the game. While there were a few penalties on both sides during the first period, neither team put a point on the board.

In the second, Sam Parsons sniped one in top corner on an awesome pass from Gavin Mason, and an assist from D-man Will Murley. There were some nice Pownal play on the power play, then speedy Drew MacPhee took the puck all the way down the side of the ice to score with assists from Mason and Dylan Batchilder.  The Red Devil defense did a great job clearing the puck on a four minute penalty.

Half way through the third, MacPhee put in his second of the night from a Parsons' pass and an assist from Owen Brown. Murley took the puck at the blue line and stick handled his way toward the goal and sniped one in from the side unassisted. But the scoring wasn't over yet. Mason scored on the door step with assists from his line mates Parsons and MacPhee. One parent in the stands had this to say, "Drew is on FIRE." With that, Batchilder scored on a beauty backhand shot with assists from Arsenault and Parsons.

The final score was 6-0. Goalie Carson Gray recorded a shut out against the Norsemen. Pownal had 27 shots on net while the home team had 10. There were big smiles on everyone's faces as they left the ice, and the dressing room was just that much louder than usual. Mason had this to say after the game, "we played good as a team on the offensive and defensive ends."

Pownal will host Gulf Storm on Monday at 7:10pm in the Arena.  Go Pownal go!
