Pownal Red Devils down Kings County 5-1

The Pownal Pee AAA Red Devils defeated the Kings County Kings 5-1 in league play. Pownal played a solid, puckmoving game which created many scoring chances throughout the evening. Kings County goalie Logan MacNeill was sharp in the net for the Kings making several big glove saves.

The Pownal attack was lead by Isaac Wilson with 2 goals, Michael Gallant 1 goal 2 assists, Lucas Parsons 1 goal ,1 assist, Colin Jenkins 1 goal. Other assists were recorded by Riley MacDougall (2), Sam MacNeill (2), Will MacDougall (1), Jack Triantafillou (1), Chloe Hawes (1), Logan Birt was again solid in the net to earn the win for the Red Devils.

Pownal went 3-1 at the recent Blue Wave Energy Tournament in Dartmouth. Pownal lost the first game 3-2 to the Sherwood Falcons after skating to an early 2-0 lead. Losing the first game really put the team's back to the wall with the Red Devils having to win all remaining games to have any chance of making the playoffs. The team showed great resilisence in winning three straight games versus the mainland teams. Pownal defeated Pictou County 4-1, Cape Breton 1-0, and Dartmouth 5-2. In the end Pownal did not make the playoffs of the tournament as they lost out in the tie-breaking system.

Isaac Wilson paced the Red Devils with 2 goals 3 assists, Riley MacDougall 3 goals 1 assist, Cole McKeigan 1 goal 2 assists, Sam MacNeill 2 goals, Luke Garnhim 1 goal, 1 assist, Lucas Parson 1 goal 1 assist, Michael Gallant 2 assists, Cole Larkin 1 goal, Colin Jenkins, Will MacDougall 1 assists, William Proud 1 assists .
Both Logan Birt and Caleb Drake played very strongly for the Red Devils in nets the entire weekend.

Pownal will next see action in the Grant Thornton Early Bird tournament with two games on Friday. 11:00 am vs Moncton, and 4:00 pm vs Summerside . Game number 3 is Saturday 3:15pm vs. Western. Best of Luck to the Red Devils!
