The Red Devils came away with their first W during Saturday's exhibition game against the Sherwood Falcons, going ahead 3-2 in the third period.

Neither team scored in the first, with call up goalie Ben Lannigan making some nice saves, especially one down low near the end of the frame.  In the second period, both teams came out firing, but Pownal got on the score sheet first when Sam Parsons demonstrated some beauty stick handling, with an assist from Drew MacPhee.

The Red Devils kept the pressure on with a number of shots on goal, and then Gavin Mason put one in. Parsons got his second point of the night with the assist.  The Falcons scored on a rebound with five minutes left in the frame. And then tied the game up with seconds ticking down.  In the third, Parsons got the puck to Tristan Lea on the blue line. Lea took a big shot on goal and then MacPhee scored on the rebound.

Goalie Nathan Bruce made a nice blocker save with less than two minutes left in the game.  Sherwood pulled their goalie and the Red Devils tried to capitalize while they were up a man, but the buzzer rang before they could score again.

Pownal fans gave the team a big round of applause for their first win.  Will Murley was wearing the C, and Parsons, Lea and Noah Brehaut were selected as Assistant Captains.   The team will practice next week to get ready for league play the following week.
