Tonight's game started out as an evenly matched affair, but the Snipers lived true to their name and were the first to score near the end of the first period. However, by the midway point of the second period the Ice Dawgs found themselves down 3 goals. That must have been the wake up call the Ice Dawgs needed as Jillian set up J.T. to "crack the egg" and get us on the scoreboard. Jet seemed to find a new gear and put some space between himself and their defenders scoring in the final minutes of the second period. The Snipers tried to extinguish the comeback embers with their fourth goal but Thomas fanned those embers into a flame as he brought the Ice Dawgs within one with a set up from Ethan and J.T. with just 6 minutes left to play. The Ice Dawgs continued to display that "never say die" attitude that kept them in the game and a couple minutes later were on the powerplay - it only lasted for a minute and changed into a 4 on 4, however Jet made great use of the extra space and tied things up. The Ice Dawgs played well through the penalty kill and the last minutes of the game. Both teams played strong and had a lot of scoring chances, but both goalies made some great saves to keep their teams in the game. I could talk about Lauren's stop at the blueline, Lucas' drive towards the net to try to get the go ahead goal, or Carter's play that earned him the golden Jersey, but it was a total team effort and as a fan of sports drama - it was a great game. I can't wait until the Ice Dawgs play the Snipers next time!!! Go Ice Dawgs!!!
