The Red Devils turned up the heat as the Storm rolled in

In the words of one of the coaches, Monday's night game was hard fought by both teams.

Gulf Storm came to Pownal to play its first game against the Red Devils. The play started fast, and stayed that way through the whole game. David MacLeod was the first to score, as he took the puck down the ice and sniped it in with as assist from Owen Brown. Gulf Storm answered with its own goal a few minutes later. Both teams moved the puck well down the ice, then Gulf Storm scored again with 15 seconds left in the first period.
 
The Red Devils answered with its own goal to tie up the game. Drew MacPhee and Gavin Mason teamed up to put the puck in the net.Goalie Nathan Bruce had some awesome saves as the visitors put the pressure on. 
Both teams took penalties, but were able to kill them off, and Bruce made a great save to keep the score 2-2 going into the third. 
 
Gulf Storm scored early, then both teams took penalties, until Gulf Storm scored on the power play as the clock ticked down.The final score was 4-2 for the visitors. Pownal had 20 shots on goal while Gulf Storm had 27. Defenseman Seth MacLeod got the hard hat after the game. He said he felt the team had some good back checking, the defense played well and everyone played their position. 
 
Fans thought the game was one of the team's best, and look forward to the next one. The boys will host the Southside Lynx on Monday at 7:10 in the Arena.
