On Saturday, February 11 at 5:15 pm in Summerside, our own Pownal Red Devils Atom Girls will be playing against the Abbotsford Ice Atom Girls in a game sponsored by Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. After being chosen in the Scotiabank Bigger Save Contest, Abbotsford Ice Atom Girls won the right to fly to PEI for Feb 9-12/2012 to participate in a number of Hockey Day in Canada Festivities including the Feb 11 game, parts of which will be televised on CBC that day. Our Pownal Red Devils Atom Girls were chosen in a draw of 10 possible PEI teams to be the one team who will act as goodwill PEI ambassadors to welcome these girls to a part of the world where hospitality is our middle name.

Some of the events in which these Red Devils will be participating will include the following:
Feb 7 @ 530-630 pm at the Pownal Stadium, CBC will join us for a practice where they will shoot our team doing the intro to Hockey Night in Canada's featured game to be televised at 8 pm Feb 11;
Feb 9 @1 -2 pm at the Pownal Stadium, 8 of our Atom Girls will participate in a hockey skills clinic led by NHL alumni; @6:00 pm at the Charlottetown Airport, we shall welcome the arrival of the Abbotsford Ice at the Charlottetown Airport;
Feb 10 @330-730 pm, after both teams practice in Summerside, a joint pizza party will be held for both teams;
Feb 11 @ 730-930 am: Pancake breakfast with the Stanley Cup and NHL alumni at the Delta; @945 - 1145 am: 10 of our girls will participate in a 2 hr Girls Hockey Fest Clinic with two female Olympians in Summerside; and @515 - 715 pm: Pownal Red Devils Atom Girls will play against Abbotsford Ice Atom Girls in Summerside.

Our girls are so excited to meet these girls from BC and to share in all the NHL level of excitement being generated for these Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada events. Please come out to the big game on Feb 11 at 515 pm in Summerside to show both teams what hockey means to us!
