Jr C All-Star Game Tuesday Night; Benefit for Flames' Coach

2015-01-28

The Razzy's Junior C Hockey League will have an All-Star Game this Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Pownal Stadium at 7:45pm.

The game will feature a league All-Star team facing off against a team of Alumni All-Stars from past seasons.  The alumni team was victorious two years ago when this format was last used and Tuesday's game will be a rematch.

Much like the game two years ago, the main focus will be to support a league member.  North River Island Excavators Flames' coach, Dave "Hippie" MacDougall had triple bypass surgery this week and will have a long road of recovery ahead of him.  He is well-known in the hockey community as he is the lead ice-maker in Pownal and has coached minor hockey for a number of years in North River.  Hippie has also coached some high-calibre baseball in the summer months including the PEI Youth Selects.

More details will be released shortly, but  the fundraising has already begun.  The Pownal Sports Centre has already announced that the ice time will be donated for the game and the South Side MacDonald's Excavation / EF MacPhee Lynx have announced that they will donate the proceeds from their 50/50 draw at Saturday night's home game against the Flames to the benefit.
