The UPEI Women’s Panthers Clinic is open to all coaches with an emphasis on individuals that coach female hockey.  The clinic will entail presentations on player evaluation, selection/development along with how to build effective practices.  Presenters will include UPEI Head Coach Bruce Donaldson and Assistant Coach Chris Harkness.  In addition, a session will be held entitled, “Dealing with the hockey parent as the role of the coach”, presented by Gordie Montgomery and Kevin McKenna.  Sessions will be held on Saturday November 15th at MacLauchlan Arena.

“We are very pleased to work with Hockey PEI and the entire hockey community in this workshop.  It’s a great way to share experiences and offer different viewpoints about coaching in the female game,” stated UPEI Head Coach Bruce Donaldson.

The following day Sunday November 16th at the Eastlink Center, the Charlottetown Islanders staff will present on the art and science of coaching followed by a Q & A session featuring practice drills brought forth by the coaches in attendance and also a session entitled The Forgotten Goaltender.  Presenters will include Head Coach – Gordie Dwyer, Assistant Coaches – Luke Beck and Connor Cameron, Goalie Coach Paul Drew and General Manager – Grant Sonier.

"The Charlottetown Islanders are proud to support hockey development on Prince Edward Island. Our second Game Day Coaches Clinic will allow us to engage with Island hockey coaches regarding better development opportunities for island hockey players and coaches." stated Islanders GM Grant Sonier. We, as an organization are 100% in support of creating hockey as a positive experience for players and coaches alike."

This is the second year that Hockey PEI has partnered with both the UPEI Panthers and the Charlottetown Islanders in this development project.   “We are extremely pleased with the opportunity to have the Panthers and Islanders coaching staff share some of their experience and insight with our coaches“, stated Hockey PEI President Goops Wooldridge.  “We sincerely appreciate the contribution and cooperation of both teams in this endeavor.”

Coaches must be currently coaching in the Hockey PEI system in order to attend.  The clinic is a professional development opportunity for coaches with no certification attached.  Individuals interested in attending may register at the following links below.
